All levels welcome
Track drills, social runs and trail runs every Wednesday and Sunday. Some of us race marathons and fell races, some of us are building up to our first 5k. You'll fit right in.

Pick a run
Wednesday track is a great first choice — fixed place, easy to find, and you can drop out any lap. Check this week's runs.
Arrive early
Get there 5–10 minutes before. Look for the group, say it's your first time, and we'll introduce you.
Stay for one
Pub on Wednesdays, coffee on Sundays. That's where the friendships (and the race entries) happen.
Questions we get asked
I'm a beginner — can I come?
Yes. Nob End Run Club is a fun, friendly social club for all abilities. We'd much rather you came along than waited until you feel 'ready'.
Will I get left behind?
We look out for each other. On road and trail runs we regroup along the way, and on the track nobody is ever far away. Tell us it's your first run and we'll make sure someone runs with you.
When and where do you run?
Every Wednesday evening (track at Leverhulme Park, meet 7:50pm for an 8pm start; or a 7:30pm road/trail run that finishes at a pub) and every Sunday at 9am unless stated otherwise (road, trail or canal run, then coffee and cake). Start points change weekly and are posted on our Facebook page and the Our Runs page.
Do I need to book?
No — but please register your interest on the website so we can look out for you and send you the week's runs.
Who leads the runs?
Run leader Jimmy Hark, a personal trainer and gym co-founder who received the Bolton Civic Medal in 2025 for his work building the club's community.
What should I bring?
Running shoes, weather-appropriate kit, water if you like it, and on dark evenings something bright or reflective plus a head torch for trail runs. A few quid for a drink or coffee afterwards.
How far do you run?
It varies by session — track nights run for about an hour, and road, trail and canal runs are a sociable distance. If you're worried about distance, message us on Facebook and we'll tell you what's planned.
Where is Nob End?
Nob End Nature Reserve is in Little Lever, Bolton, Greater Manchester, where the Croal meets the Irwell next to the Manchester, Bolton & Bury Canal.
How do I keep up with club news?
Follow our Facebook page — that's where weekly start points, socials and race plans go up first.
